'Raj's Place'

A drive day, today. Lots of hours on the road, and nobody in the mood to chat much. I feel knackered, and my sinuses are making me feel like I have a cold. We're staying in the most surreal campsite, though. Rob reckons the owner, Raj owns a textile factory and a few other concerns, and basically built this camp as a hobby. The bar is in what resembles a man-made cavern, with a tunnel leading to it from the main campsite. It's the size of a nightclub. There are waterfalls inside, and a pool outside with a huge sluicing waterfall. I couldn't think of a much better place to describe as a 'folly'. He appears to be able to afford it, though.

The only odd note was being approached by an odd Italian guy who was staying there on his own. He's in textiles, and insisted on engaging me in conversation. Clearly very rich, but not sure it's much of a life – trying to get backpackers to talk to you.
