Fisherman's Camp
Fisherman's Camp, Lake Navishara
First impressions, then. In the end, there were about seven of us in the bar. A Welsh guy that doesn't sound in any way Welsh (although, if I'm honest, they never seem to these days). He looks like he might be made out of plastic, and has clearly done quite a lot of travelling. A young Canadian couple who've been studying in London, and Irish guy who sounds like he should have been on Big Brother. Oh, and a rather odd woman from Argentina. We also have a pair of Antipodean couples, a couple of english girls travelling on their own, and an English couple from Brixton (natch). More on all that later....since I am currently feeling fairly ill. It's a dodgy tum, basically, but I'm, by turns, shivering and sweating. It's not a great start, to be honest, particularly as one would like to be 'on form' for at least the first few days. Everyone's been very nice, but I'm just trying to park myself in a corner and recover. We have a theory it might be the Yellow Fever jab, since I had it about eight days ago, and they reckon, in some cases, it can leave you feeling under the weather. So, hopefully that's it – although you don't often hear the phrase 'hopefully, finger's crossed, it's Yellow Fever'...
This place, on the other hand, is beautiful. We're camped about a hundred metres from the lake, and we're off for a boat trip a bit later. It seems like a really good crew, the layout of the truck (two areas of seats facing inwards, and the 'beach' at the front) is very conducive to socialising, and it's Derek – the Irish guy's – birthday today.
I feel ill, and 'I got nothing'. Let me have a think about it...
Camerawatch:
Still working. Well, it hasn't been out of its case, yet, so I can only assume it's still working. It might, of course, be broken. (For all you physicists out there, a 'Shroedinger's Camera')
